What does alcohol-free mean?
According to German, Austrian, and Swiss food law, beverages with a maximum of 0.5% alcohol by volume can be labeled as non-alcoholic.
POLLY contains <0.5% alcohol by volume and is therefore considered non-alcoholic, similar to fruit juices or very ripe bananas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is alcohol-free sparkling wine really without alcohol?
The term "alcohol-free" is often equated with "non-alcoholic", but there is a subtle yet important difference. Under German food law, they are not synonyms. Here is the clear distinction:
Alcohol-free: A drink may contain up to 0.5% alcohol by volume.
0.0% or “non-alcoholic”: A drink must guarantee that it contains no alcohol, i.e. 0.0% by volume. It is therefore important for you to know that POLLY products, including Sparkling Blanc, are always alcohol-free by law and therefore contain less than 0.5% alcohol.
Is alcohol-free sparkling wine bad for the liver?
It’s clear: cutting out alcohol is always good news for your liver. As our Sparkling Blanc is alcohol-free, it avoids the typical strain that ethanol in conventional sparkling wine places on the organ.
Alcohol-free alternatives are therefore a much more mindful way to celebrate special moments without putting the body under strain, as is the case with conventional alcohol. Ultimately, moderate enjoyment as part of a balanced diet is always the best approach – and with POLLY, raising a glass is simply a much more carefree experience.
Can alcohol-free sparkling wine be drunk by pregnant women or whilst breastfeeding?
Like all drinks legally classified as ‘alcohol-free’, our Sparkling Blanc may contain a small amount of residual alcohol of less than 0.5% by volume. This is comparable to the natural alcohol content found in very ripe bananas or some fruit juices.
Whether you enjoy Sparkling Blanc on its own or as a mixer: as consciously choosing to avoid alcohol during this particular time is a very personal decision, how you enjoy it is ultimately up to you. If in doubt – as with all alcoholic beverages – we recommend consulting a doctor.
How long does non-alcoholic sparkling wine keep?
Our alcohol-free sparkling wine is perfectly matured at the time of bottling and ready to drink straight away. For the best flavour, we recommend enjoying it within the next 1 to 2 years, so that its freshness and delicate effervescence are fully preserved.
Each bottle also has an individual best-before date, which you’ll find on the label. Once opened, you should keep the bottle tightly sealed in the fridge and enjoy it within 2–3 days – just like a conventional sparkling wine.
How much sugar is there in the alcohol-free sparkling wine?
Our Sparkling Blanc contains 3.1 g of sugar per 100 ml. This means it is deliberately less sweet than many other alcohol-free alternatives on the market. Whilst many alcohol-free sparkling wines rely on a high residual sweetness to mask the absence of alcohol, POLLY Sparkling Blanc retains its fresh character.
How is non-alcoholic sparkling wine made?
We use the vacuum distillation process to produce our Sparkling Blanc. This particularly gentle method involves extracting the alcohol from the wine at very low temperatures. It requires a great deal of skill, but has a key advantage: as the wine is not subjected to high temperatures, its original aroma is preserved almost entirely. The result is an authentic taste experience with a delicate effervescence – in an alcohol-free form.
