Frequently Asked Questions
What does POLLY Italian Aperitif taste like?
Our POLLY Italian Aperitif is the modern answer to the classic Italian bitter. It was created to capture the unmistakable flair of the south – inspired by the popular fruity flavour profile of an Aperol, but as a standalone, alcohol-free composition.
Italian lifestyle: A harmonious interplay of sweet and tart notes that immediately brings back memories of your last holiday in Italy.
Fruity & tart: The tangy freshness of sun-ripened oranges meets the characteristic herbal note of gentian.
Complex enjoyment: Thanks to its subtle bitter note, it offers a depth that is otherwise only found in classic bitter aperitifs. Perfect for a mature palate.
Perfect pairing: Its full aroma is best enjoyed when mixed with POLLY Sparkling Blanc or tonic water.
Whether as a light sundowner or the centrepiece of your next party, it is the ideal choice for anyone looking for an Italian alcohol-free aperitif without compromising on taste.
Can you drink this Italian aperitif neat?
We recommend enjoying our drinks exclusively mixed. When combined correctly, their full flavour profile unfolds, ensuring an optimal experience. It is only through mixing that the diverse aromas come into their own.
Is the Italian aperitif a substitute for classic aperitifs containing alcohol?
Our POLLY Italian Aperitif is much more than just an alternative – it is a modern, alcohol-free interpretation of the classic Italian lifestyle. Inspired by the popular fruity flavour profile of an Italian aperitif, it captivates with a perfectly balanced blend of sweet orange notes, delicate gentian and the characteristic bitterness of a traditional bitter aperitif. This complex interplay of flavours offers a full-bodied, sophisticated taste that brings the familiar flair of an Italian piazza to your glass without compromise.
What is the best way to mix the Italian aperitif?
POLLY Italian Aperitif unfolds its full, sweet-tart aroma best when paired with sparkling accompaniments. For the ultimate Italian lifestyle experience, mix it classically as an alcohol-free spritz: simply combine the aperitif with our finely sparkling POLLY Sparkling Blanc or an alcohol-free sparkling wine to perfectly highlight the fruity orange notes. If you prefer something a little more tart and lighter, try it with tonic water or sparkling grapefruit lemonade, which transforms the drink into a refreshing highball. Combined with white peach lemonade, it also provides an exciting, sophisticated taste experience. Served with plenty of ice and a fresh slice of orange, this mix is every bit as good as its classic counterpart.
Is POLLY Italian Aperitif really alcohol-free?
The term "alcohol-free" is often equated with "without alcohol", but there is a subtle yet important difference. According to German food law, they are not synonyms. Here is the clear distinction:
Alcohol-free: A beverage may contain up to 0.5 per cent alcohol by volume.
0.0% or "non-alcoholic": A beverage must guarantee that it contains no alcohol, i.e. 0.0% by volume. It is therefore important for you to know that POLLY products are always alcohol-free by law and therefore contain less than 0.5% alcohol.
Please note: our products are not drunk neat, but mixed with a suitable mixer such as tonic water or lemonade. This further reduces the alcohol content of our drinks in the finished mixed drink.
