Is Caribbean Classic an alcohol-free substitute for rum?
From this perspective, it would be wrong to promote Caribbean Classic as a substitute. In terms of taste, however, Caribbean Classic is inspired by classic rum. Real Jamaican rum provides the flavour, but a complex distillation process ensures that the end result is an alcohol-free product. This aroma, combined with fruity components such as lime peel distillate and pineapple distillate, gives it its unmistakable character. POLLY Caribbean Classic is therefore ideal for use in drinks that are alcohol-free but based on alcoholic classics. So if you're a fan of Cuba Libre or Daiquiri, why not try them alcohol-free and use our POLLY Caribbean Classic instead of rum?
Does Caribbean Classic have the typical rum aroma?
Genuine Jamaican rum forms the basis for the intense aroma of Caribbean Classics. Through a complex distillation process and refinement with fruity components such as pineapple distillate, we have succeeded in creating a alcohol-free alternative that perfectly combines the typical rum character with a fruity exoticism.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does 'inspired by rum' actually mean?
Inspired by rum means that the product cannot be labelled as an alternative or alcohol-free rum, but that its flavour is nevertheless based on the original. The alcohol-free product attempts to replicate the taste of the original, e.g. using plant-based distillates. In addition, genuine Jamaican rum refines the Caribbean Classic. Thanks to a special distillation process, only the pure, non-alcoholic aroma remains, but it is precisely this that gives the flavour profile its extraordinary depth and sophistication.
Can Caribbean Classic be drunk neat?
We recommend enjoying our drinks exclusively mixed. When combined correctly, their full flavour profile unfolds, ensuring an optimal experience. It is only through mixing that the diverse aromas come into their own.
Is Caribbean Classic really alcohol-free as a substitute for rum?
The term "alcohol-free" is often equated with "without alcohol", but there is a subtle yet important difference. According to German food law, they are not synonyms. Here is the clear distinction:
Non-alcoholic: A drink may contain up to 0.5 per cent alcohol by volume.
0.0% or "alcohol-free": A beverage must guarantee that it contains no alcohol, i.e. 0.0% by volume. It is therefore important for you to know that POLLY products are always alcohol-free by law and therefore contain less than 0.5% alcohol.
Please note: Our products are not drunk neat, but mixed with a suitable mixer such as tonic water or lemonade. This further reduces the alcohol content of our drinks in the finished mixed drink.
Does Caribbean Classic taste more like white rum or brown rum?
The non-alcoholic flavour profile and appearance of Caribbean Classic are clearly reminiscent of a high-quality white rum, but with a particularly fruity and complex aroma. While genuine brown rum often has heavy notes of vanilla, wood and molasses, white varieties usually emphasise a fruity lightness. The aroma of Caribbean Classic is therefore deliberately based on the freshness and purity of white rum.
How is Caribbean Classic produced?
Our production process involves creating genuine alcoholic flavours and distillates from botanicals, fruits, etc. These are distilled in multiple stages and then concentrated in a complex process. After dilution, they still have a strong flavour and an alcohol content of <0.3%. In Caribbean Classic, the refinement with real Jamaican rum and the natural pineapple distillate are crucial to its authentic character. As the rum has been gently distilled, it remains alcohol-free but contributes significantly to the aromatic complexity.
